GK Georgia GD Maddy WD Jess C Maddi WA Linda GA Tee GS Grace

It was important that we got off to a great start and ensure that we were playing our style of netball. Georgia and Maddy were again turning the ball over and pulling in some strong rebounds. Although we struggled to penetrate the ball down the court, the girls showed patience and poise to ensure we got the ball to our shooters who were good enough to capitalise on their opportunities.

Up by 5 at quarter time.

No change

Although the first quarter was tight and tough, we knew we had the upper hand and were determined to extend the lead. Lind's pace in WA was causing damage and with her and Maddi combining well with quick passing, swing balls and beautiful feeding the confidence in the team was growing. Halfway through the quarter Sid was brought into WA and Linda given a rest after a fantastic start. Once again, Maddy and Georgia were working tirelessly in defence.

Up by 8 at half time.

Jac GA Linda WA

We knew Ballarat were going to come out hard and give it everything to get back into the game, which is exactly what they did. They clawed their way back to within 5 goals through some accurate shooting.

However, this was one lead Blaze were not going to give up. Maddi was forced from the court through injury which allowed a few changes and a well needed break to regroup and refocus. Anica went into C, Sid into GS. After the break, we were simply unstoppable. The Defenders were turning off ball after ball and now we were getting depth on our drives out of defence and our ball movement was too fast for Ballarat to stop. Jac's movement and positioning was fantastic and she brought Sid into the game. She was causing havoc in our attack end.

No Change

The first 6 minutes were just fantastic. The girls played the style of netball we want to play and all of a sudden the lead was out to 18 and our first victory was only minutes away. With 7 minutes to go, Georgia had to come off with an injured finger, so Issy moved into GK and we took the opportunity to give Sierra a run at WD. The final few minutes the girls went through the motions and were just waiting for the final whistle. The final score was 45 to 35, a 10 goal victory that was set up with a strong, positive and dominate 3 and half quarters.

Georgia, Linda, Tee, Maddy, Grace

The girls have played positive netball over the past few weeks and it was just a matter of time before we got our first win. We look forward to the break and are ready to launch into the second half of the season.
