The Banyule Nets courts are set to sizzle on Saturday May 4th, 2013 as the DC North East Blaze take on UB Ballarat Pride in Round 8 of the Devine Victorian Netball League.

The last round of the competition, played on April 3rd, saw a win for our luckless Championship  Blaze side.  After four rounds of losing by four goals or less, our championship side put all the pieces together to pull out a great game and record a 28 defeat of Yarra Valley Ariels.  Winning all four  quarters in a decisive manner, with a dominating 2nd quarter in which they scored 21 goals, the hapless Ariels had no answer for our champ girls, who went on to win the game in decisive fashion, 63-35.

Our Division 1 side (pictured above) saw their first win recorded the week before, where they accounted for their oppistion, V U Lightening by 4 goals (39-35).  The Division 1 team put in a good 4 quarter effort, winning the first three quarters to set up a win, with a determined V U Lightening team winning the last term by 2 to nearly steal the game in the dying minutes.

Our young 19 & Under side are yet to record a win, however they went very close against V U Lightening on the same night, losing by a mere 4 goals.  With only 3 girls remaining from last years team, time was always going to be needed for these girls to gain experience and gel together and under the guidence of Kelli a win will surely be just around the corner.

That is why it is crucial we have a huge supporter base at our first home game of the season on Saturday, May 4th at Banyule Nets Stadium, Somers Street, Macleod, against UB Ballarat Pride.   Our 19 & Under side will kick off the night of sporting entertainment, making a start at 5:00pm, with our Division 1 girls to follow at 6:30pm.  The night will culminate with our Championship side taking to the court at 8:30pm and with admission fees being only $8 for adults, $5 for concession holders, $4 for 12-17 year olds and 11 & under being free, what better way would there be to spend a Saturday evening than cheering on our very own DC North East Blaze.
