At the inaugural Blaze home game in front of a sell out and vocal home crowd, the Blaze put on a great show across all three divisions.
Championship - Blaze 50 defeated Genesis 38
Division One - Genesis 47 defeated Blaze 39
19&Under - Genesis 47 defeated Blaze 37
In the feature match between the two Championship sides, pitting 5th against 6th, the Blaze came out firing running away to a nine goal lead at quarter time 17-8. The Blaze defenders continued to shut down scoring opportunities for the Genesis in the second term, whilst the Blaze goaling end capitalised on all opportunities, taking the lead to 14, the margin 31-17 at the half time break.
Changes at half time to the Genesis line up, reaped early rewards in the third quarter with a 6-1 scoring streak to start the quarter. Blaze steadied towards the end of the quarter but Genesis had made a significant dent in the scoreline and trailed only by four goals, 38-34, which set the scene for a tightly contested final quarter.
Inspired by strong words from the captain, Jade Hottes, Blaze returned to their fast and furious form in the last term, blazing away to score the first seven goals unanswered. A strong and determined defensive focus, limited the Genesis to only four goals in the last term and the Blaze came away convincing winners, the final margin 50-38.
